Phalguna Chaitra is a marvel produced by the Odia Movie Industry produced by Babushaan Productions directed by Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenakee Singh released in 2023. The story was written by Dr. Sulagna Mohanty and Pranab Prasanna Rath has written the screenplay and dialogues of this movie.

The movie is an experience of its own. The roller coaster ride from comedy, romance to the unfolding of the mystery to the harsh reality to the act of moving on.

The story has been stitched together by characters who have been appropriately named. The characters Jeje, Maa, Smruti, Kabya, Ananya, Kanha and Sukant all justify their names accurately.

The movie revolves around the protagonist Kabya who is an architect who gets an assignment to renovate a vintage house in Odisha. He meets the chirpy and bubbly interior decorator Smruti. They fall in love but turn of events change the dynamics of the relationship. The movie opens with Kabya being convinced to go to the village to renovate the house. The scenes of he village are very nostalgic for everyone who has spent significant time in a village. The way the owner of the house shows the house, the way he behaves, his gestures involuntarily trigger laughter and brings out the images of a typical grandpa of the Odia household. The grandpa is regularly troubled by the local gunda enhancing the flavours of the rural life and comedy.

The story swiftly transitions to the phase where the love story of Kabya and Smruti begins. Amidst all this the movie reveals great sceneries of the less explored Nabarangpur and Koraput. The movie keeps on building the mystery at perfect time intervals. The movie in the 2nd half grips the audience very intensely unveiling the mystery at a suitable pace. After unveiling of the mystery the harsh reality is revealed hits hard to the audience. In the end the act of moving on amidst the natural beauty of Nabarangpur the movie leaves the audience with a feel good smile.

There are scenes that bring out tears quite involuntarily, the dialogs hit the heart. The music in the movie is also of high quality and the great camera work and cinematography makes the whole movie a great experience to undergo. I recommend this movie to be watched with the family.
