Meeting the Practical Needs of Group Travel

Holiday Inn Express Shenzhen Guangming Tour groups moving through unfamiliar cities face a recurring, often underestimated challenge: keeping clothing clean and presentable across multi-day itineraries without losing time or flexibility. For , this operational reality has shaped a facility approach built around convenience, reliability, and round-the-clock accessibility.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)Established on September 21, 2022, and located at BTR New Material Group Co., Ltd., No. 8 Guangyuan 4th Road, Dongkeng Community, Fenghuang Street, Guangming District, Shenzhen, the property is affiliated with . Its stated strategic positioning centers on delivering "a simple and smart travel experience" — a mandate that directly informs how it structures amenities for groups whose schedules leave little room for logistical friction.

The 24-Hour Self-Service Laundry Pavilion

24-hour Self-service Laundry PavilionAt the center of this discussion is the hotel's , described in the property's own service documentation as a "Self-service clothing care center." The target scenario pain point it addresses is explicit: the inconvenience of clothes washing and drying needs for long-term travelers — a description that applies squarely to multi-day tour groups without access to home laundry equipment.

Two differentiated attributes define this service:

On-demand Use: The pavilion operates on a full 24-hour basis, which resolves what the hotel's own materials call "the embarrassment of cleaning clothes during travel." Group members are not bound to front-desk hours or third-party laundry drop-off schedules; the facility is accessible whenever an itinerary allows a gap.
Wash and Dry Integrated: The pavilion combines washing and drying functions in one location, which shortens the clothing turnover cycle. For a tour group cycling through sightseeing, transit, and rest days, this integration reduces the number of steps between a soiled garment and a wearable one.

This self-service model also carries a practical group-travel benefit that is often overlooked: it removes dependency on hotel staff bandwidth. Rather than routing laundry requests through housekeeping — a process that can bottleneck when many rooms make simultaneous requests — group members manage their own timing independently.

A Broader Ecosystem of Self-Service Facilities

The laundry pavilion does not exist in isolation. It is one component of a wider set of self-service and shared-use facilities the hotel maintains specifically to support travelers whose needs extend beyond the guest room itself.

Round-the-Clock Retail and Rest Options

Vending MachineA , described as an "Instant retail touchpoint," provides snacks and drinks 24 hours a day. The stated pain point is the demand for supplies at night or when shopping around the hotel is inconvenient — a scenario tour groups encounter frequently after long excursion days.

24-hour Great RoomThe functions as an "Open shared living and working area," offering flexible seating and network coverage. For group travelers seeking a non-formal space to regroup, plan the next day, or rest briefly outside their individual rooms, this open area extends the hotel's usable hours beyond the guest room.

Fitness and Business Support

GymSelf-service Business CenterA , positioned as a "Travel health management space," is equipped with professional exercise equipment, addressing the interruption of exercise habits during travel. A supports travelers' needs for temporary printing, copying documents, or using public computers — relevant for tour leaders managing paperwork, itineraries, or documentation mid-trip.

Collectively, these facilities reflect a consistent design philosophy: minimize the number of tasks a guest must delegate to hotel staff, and maximize the number of tasks a guest can complete independently, at any hour.

Room Configurations Suited to Group Composition

Groups traveling together rarely share identical accommodation needs, and the hotel's room lineup reflects this variability. The property offers 153 guest rooms across six configurations:

Superior Room 1 King Bed (City View), at 30 square meters, combines a spacious sleeping area with a smart toilet and small refrigerator.
Superior Room 2 Twin Beds (City View), also 30 square meters, is designed for travelers requiring independent sleeping arrangements while sharing a room.
Superior Room 2 Twin Beds Larger Area, at 34–38 square meters, offers additional luggage storage and activity space.
Superior Room 1 King Bed Larger Area, at 30–34 square meters, targets business-oriented stays requiring deeper work and relaxation space.
1 Bedroom Suite, at 66 square meters, separates office, reception, and sleeping functions — suited to group organizers or VIP members.
Superior Room 1 King Bed Accessible, at 28 square meters, is equipped with barrier-free facilities for guests with mobility needs.

This range allows tour operators to accommodate mixed-need groups — solo travelers, paired travelers, and guests requiring accessible rooms — within a single property.
