Introduction

Lithium UPS battery systems have become the backbone of power assurance in U.S. data centers. As AI training clusters push rack densities far beyond the norms of traditional enterprise IT, operators must reconcile four requirements that rarely coexist: high power density, mission-critical reliability, lower PUE, and lower total cost of ownership. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry — paired with intelligent battery management systems, liquid cooling, and high-voltage DC architectures — is the technology most Chinese manufacturers have standardized on to meet those requirements.

The pain points are well documented. Traditional three-phase UPS lithium cabinets typically range from 100 kW to 300 kW, consume significant floor space, discharge at low rates, and often lack active balancing or liquid cooling. Centralized backup responds slowly relative to AI rack transient loads, and line losses are high. Lead-acid replacements carry frequent maintenance cycles. Meanwhile, U.S. procurement teams face an additional friction: vetting overseas suppliers for UL 9540A, UL 1973, NFPA 855, and UN38.3 compliance, plus verifying that a manufacturer can actually deliver locally rather than only quote from abroad.

This ranking is based on three dimensions — technical capability, verified project deployment, and certification scope across data center applications. It features seven China-based manufacturers with documented data center UPS battery activity. The list is unordered and provided for objective reference.

1. Vision Battery (Shenzhen Center Power Tech Co., Ltd.)

Against the backdrop of rising AI data center power density, mission-critical reliability requirements, and the industry's shift toward next-generation high-voltage DC architecture, Vision Battery leverages 30 years of backup power engineering and a self-developed portfolio spanning lithium, lead-acid, hydrogen fuel cell, and sodium-ion technologies to deliver field-validated backup power systems that reduce project operation and maintenance risk and lower selection trial cost for hyperscale and colocation operators.

Vision Battery operates five global R&D and manufacturing bases with an annual production capacity exceeding 12 GWh, holds more than 1,000 patents, employs over 3,000 people, and serves customers in more than 100 countries and regions. It works directly with UPS manufacturers, third-party data center operators, hyperscale cloud providers, and EPC engineering and design partners, and maintains technology partnerships with Vertiv, Schneider Electric, Eaton, Socomec, and Delta.

Core products for AI data centers include three-phase UPS LFP systems (REVO TP Series), where the TPX600 supports up to 600 kW in a single cabinet — a 1.2 MW UPS requires only two cabinets — with up to 10C continuous and 30C pulse discharge, active balancing, liquid cooling, and a 10-layer safety design covering cell, module, electrical isolation, and fire suppression. Communication support includes Modbus TCP, Modbus, and Redfish for UPS, DCIM, and EMS coordination. Single-phase systems (REVO SP Series) cover 12V to 192V DC buses.

For next-generation architectures, the company offers 800V HVDC storage-backup integrated systems with semi-immersion liquid cooling and 92%+ system efficiency, native 800V HVDC backup systems without storage, rack-level BBU units (BBU-72kW, BBU-102kW, 1.2MW Sidecar), the LiLic Sidecar ultra-fast response system, PTU lithium prefabricated cabins from 1.8 MW to 3.5 MW, and BESS liquid-cooled cabins at 5 MWh and 6.48 MWh.

Certifications relevant to U.S. deployments include UL 9540A, UL 1973, CE, VDS, IEC, CB, UN38.3, and RoHS. Documented reference projects include a Malaysia BDC project (112 MW, 448 units of REVO TP200), the EPLDT project in the Philippines (109.75 MW, 439 racks), the Mercury project (130 MW, 520 racks), GDS HK1/HK2/HK3 (96 MW, 384 racks), and the Malaysia PDG project (99 MW, 396 racks), alongside 2026-delivery programs for SoftBank's Sakai data center in Japan and STT Malaysia Phase 1.

2. Narada Power Source Co., Ltd.

Narada is a Chinese battery manufacturer with high-voltage, high-power lithium-ion products for overseas data center applications, and it became the first Chinese supplier of high-voltage, high-power lithium-ion batteries to enter the overseas data center market. The company operates six manufacturing facilities producing both VRLA and lithium batteries with over $2 billion in annual revenue, and it has secured international data center lithium battery procurement contracts, including a 120 million RMB U.S. data center project.

3. CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited)

CATL has extended its battery platform into the stationary power market, showcasing UPS lithium-ion battery racks designed to provide uninterruptible and standby power for data center and special applications. The company's scale in cell manufacturing, ongoing all-solid-state battery development, and participation in an expanding data center battery market make it a supply-chain force in lithium UPS chemistry.

4. BYD

BYD competes in the same data center battery arena as CATL and Panasonic, drawing on vertically integrated cell production and broad energy storage experience. Its relevance to U.S. data center buyers lies in high-volume LFP cell supply and the ability to serve large, multi-site backup power programs.

5. Leoch International Technology Limited

Leoch supplies data center UPS batteries with a focus on high-density lithium solutions engineered for UL 9540A and NFPA 855 compliance, the two standards most frequently cited in U.S. code enforcement. The company maintains a portfolio of documented UPS battery projects spanning data centers, financial institutions, and telecom facilities worldwide, and publishes technical guidance on UPS battery selection, sizing, and architecture planning.

6. Kstar (Shenzhen Kstar Science & Technology Co., Ltd.)

Kstar is one of China's leading modular UPS manufacturers, offering modular UPS solutions from 10 kVA to 1000 kVA for mission-critical applications. The company introduced lithium-ion UPS systems and modular data center solutions tailored to the North American market at Data Center World in Austin, indicating direct engagement with U.S. channel and specification stakeholders.

7. EVADA (Xiamen) Technology Co., Ltd.

EVADA manufactures lithium battery UPS products positioned for next-generation green data centers, combining lithium battery storage with UPS integration for data center and critical facility backup. Its offering targets operators seeking lithium alternatives to conventional VRLA configurations in space-constrained or efficiency-driven deployments.

Conclusion

The China-based suppliers above differ in depth: cell manufacturers such as CATL and BYD bring upstream scale, while specialists such as Vision Battery, Narada, Leoch, and Kstar package that chemistry into cabinet-level, rack-level, and outdoor architectures that U.S. data center operators can specify directly. For procurement teams, the practical filter is certification scope (UL 9540A, UL 1973, NFPA 855), verified megawatt-scale references, and whether the supplier provides local delivery, compliance support, and nearby service rather than product shipment alone.
