Diesel generator sets remain an important source of backup and standby power for factories, commercial buildings, hospitals, warehouses, construction sites, offices, and other facilities. While DG sets provide dependable electricity during power interruptions, their exhaust emissions require proper management. This is where a Retrofit Emission Control Device, commonly known as RECD, can play an important role.

RECD technology is designed to work with suitable existing generator systems and can support improved management of particulate emissions from diesel exhaust.

What Is an RECD for a DG Set?

A Retrofit Emission Control Device is an emission-control system installed on an existing diesel generator. Instead of replacing the complete DG set, a suitable retrofit system can be integrated with the generator's exhaust arrangement.

The objective is to control particulate matter and other relevant exhaust pollutants through an engineered emission-control setup. The exact configuration depends on factors such as generator capacity, engine specifications, exhaust characteristics, operating conditions, and applicable requirements.

For industrial users, selecting an appropriate RECD is therefore not simply about purchasing a device. It involves understanding the generator, installation conditions, operating environment, and technical requirements.

Why Buy RECD for DG Sets?

Many organizations already have functioning diesel generators installed at their premises. Replacing these generators solely for emission-control improvements may not always be the preferred approach. A retrofit solution can provide an alternative by focusing on the exhaust-emission-control aspect of the existing equipment.

Businesses may consider RECD technology for several reasons:

Improved management of diesel exhaust emissions
Retrofit compatibility with suitable existing DG sets
Support for cleaner generator operations
Reduced need for complete equipment replacement
Application across industrial and commercial environments
A technology-focused approach to generator emission management

Before purchasing, users should verify whether the selected RECD is technically suitable for their particular DG set.

How Does a Retrofit Emission Control Device Work?

An RECD is generally integrated into the exhaust pathway of a diesel generator. The system is engineered to capture or control particulate matter present in the exhaust gases.

The device configuration can vary depending on the technology used and the generator application. Proper installation is essential because the exhaust system must operate within appropriate technical parameters.

A professional assessment can consider the DG set's rated capacity, exhaust pipe arrangement, back pressure considerations, operating hours, installation space, and other relevant factors.

RECD for Industrial and Commercial DG Sets

Industrial facilities often depend on diesel generators for backup or operational continuity. Manufacturing plants, warehouses, commercial complexes, institutions, and infrastructure facilities may operate DG sets of different capacities.

Each application can have different emission-control requirements. A small commercial generator and a high-capacity industrial generator should not automatically be treated as identical installations.

Aceget focuses on retrofit emission-control solutions for diesel generator applications, helping users identify solutions according to their equipment and operational requirements.

Important Factors Before You Purchase RECD

Choosing an RECD should involve more than comparing product prices. Businesses should evaluate the complete technical requirement before making a purchase.

1. DG Set Capacity

Generator capacity is one of the first factors to consider. The RECD should be appropriately selected for the generator on which it will be installed.

2. Engine and Exhaust Specifications

Engine type, exhaust configuration, pipe dimensions, and operating characteristics can affect installation and system selection.

3. Installation Requirements

Available installation space and exhaust-system configuration should be assessed before ordering the equipment.

4. Maintenance Requirements

Like other industrial equipment, emission-control systems require appropriate inspection and maintenance. Users should understand maintenance procedures and service requirements before installation.

5. Applicable Requirements

Customers should check the applicable environmental and regulatory requirements for their specific DG set, location, and application. Product claims such as “CPCB approved” or “compliant” should always be verified against the relevant current documentation and applicable requirements.

Buy RECD from a Specialized Supplier

Purchasing an emission-control device from a supplier with knowledge of DG-set applications can simplify the selection process. A specialized supplier can help assess generator specifications, recommend a suitable configuration, and coordinate installation requirements.

Aceget provides retrofit emission-control solutions for diesel generators and industrial applications. Customers can discuss their DG-set specifications with the Aceget team before selecting a suitable solution.

The goal should be to match the emission-control system with the actual generator application rather than choosing a product solely because of a generic specification.

Benefits of a Properly Selected RECD System

A correctly selected and installed RECD can support a more systematic approach to diesel-generator emission management.

Potential benefits include:

Retrofit-based emission control
Support for particulate emission management
Compatibility with suitable existing DG sets
Reduced dependence on complete generator replacement
Application flexibility for commercial and industrial facilities
Better integration of emission-control planning into DG operations

Actual performance depends on the technology, generator condition, installation quality, operating conditions, and maintenance practices.
