What is Convenience Store Market?

Convenience store market refers to small-format retail stores, whose primary function is to provide consumers with fast access to regularly purchased items and services. These stores typically stock food, beverages, snacks, tobacco, nicotine products where applicable, household items, personal care products and many other goods.

Prepared foods, coffee, bakery items, fresh meals and many other ready-to-eat products can also be found in these stores.

Why Do Consumers Shop in Convenience Stores?

Convenience is the main reason for consumers choosing this type of retail store. Consumers can purchase items such as a quick snack, drink, or household product without the need for any shopping trip.

Proximity is another reason, as convenience stores are normally located close to places of residence, work, transport routes, fuel stations and many other traffic points.

What are the Primary Product Categories of Convenience Stores?

Typical product mix includes packaged beverages, snacks, tobacco and nicotine products, wherever applicable, foodservice, grocery items, personal care products, household goods, and other items that fall under the category of convenience merchandise.

The significance of beverages lies in the fact that consumers tend to purchase bottled water, soft drinks, energy drinks, coffee, and other ready-to-drink beverages.

What is the Place of Fuel in the Convenience Retailing Industry?
