Corten Steel Sheets – Introduction

Corten Steel Sheets are weather-resistant steel products designed to develop a protective patina when exposed to suitable atmospheric conditions. This naturally formed surface helps reduce the rate of further corrosion and gives the steel its distinctive rust-brown appearance. Corten steel is widely used where durability, reduced maintenance, and an attractive weathered finish are important.

Corten Steel Sheets are available in grades such as Corten Steel A, Corten Steel B, ASTM A242, ASTM A588, S355J2W+N, S355JOWP, and Grade 41 IRSM. They are commonly supplied to infrastructure projects, bridges, architectural structures, industrial equipment, railway applications, and outdoor fabrication projects.

Product Overview

At Metcore Alloys, Corten Steel Sheets can be supplied in different grades, dimensions, and thicknesses according to project requirements. These sheets can be processed through cutting, bending, drilling, welding, and other fabrication operations using appropriate procedures.

Their weathering characteristics make them particularly suitable for outdoor applications where conventional painted steel would require regular coating maintenance. However, the protective patina develops effectively only under appropriate wet-and-dry atmospheric exposure; continuously wet or poorly drained conditions may require additional protection.

Corten Steel Plates , combined with its other properties, gives them almost supernatural weathering ability and are glory for various industrial applications across the globe. The steel sheet and plates, due to which it has resistance against atmospheric corrosion forming the patina, have a quite stable rust-like appearance that prevents further oxidation but also saves lifespan without the need for painting.
