Diesel generator sets are an important source of backup power for industrial and commercial establishments. Manufacturing units, hospitals, offices, shopping centres, warehouses, educational institutions, data centres and infrastructure facilities may rely on generators to maintain electricity availability.

Retrofit Emission Control DeviceAt the same time, diesel combustion produces exhaust emissions. This has increased interest in emission-control technologies designed for existing generator installations. One such option is the , commonly known as RECD.

CPCB approved RECD for DG setBusinesses searching for a should understand the technical meaning of RECD type approval, engine compatibility, installation and applicable requirements before selecting a product.

CPCB's official RECD procedure establishes a framework for Type Approval and Conformity of Production. It states that RECD devices are developed, optimised and certified for already-certified DG engine families.

What Is a CPCB Approved RECD?

An RECD is a retrofit emission-control device intended for an existing diesel generator engine.

The term "CPCB approved RECD" is commonly used in product searches, advertisements and industrial procurement discussions. However, buyers should examine the exact certification documentation for the product being offered.

CPCB's official procedure covers the technical and administrative framework for RECD type approval and conformity of production.

This means a buyer should look beyond a simple "CPCB approved" statement and ask:

What is the RECD model?
Which engine family is covered?
What is the approved power range?
What technical documentation is available?
What testing or certification information is provided?

Why Type Approval Matters

Type approval provides a structured mechanism for evaluating whether an emission-control device meets specified technical requirements for its intended application.

CPCB's procedure identifies different RECD types and families.

The procedure also explains that the type-approval range describes the power range of engines or engine families to which the RECD family may be applied.

This is particularly relevant for businesses operating different generator models.

RECD Engine Compatibility

A major mistake during procurement is assuming that generator capacity alone determines RECD suitability.

For example, two generators may both have similar rated output but use different engine families.

Important technical information can include:

Engine manufacturer
Engine model
Engine family
Rated power
Exhaust flow
Exhaust temperature
Operating load
Exhaust configuration
Existing silencer
Installation location

RECD manufacturer in IndiaAn experienced should evaluate this information before recommending a specific product.

How an RECD Supports Emission Control

The exact operating mechanism depends on the emission-control technology.

An RECD may be designed to target specific exhaust pollutants.

The actual performance depends on the device, engine, operating conditions and maintenance.

For this reason, businesses should avoid treating RECD as a generic accessory.

Instead, it should be viewed as an engineered component of the DG-set exhaust system.

RECD for Industrial DG Sets

Industrial facilities often operate generators under different conditions.

Some DG sets are used only during emergency situations, while others may be operated for longer durations.

RECD for DG setAn should therefore be selected based on actual operating conditions.

A supplier may need to evaluate:

Generator load profile
Operating hours
Exhaust temperature
Engine condition
Installation environment
Maintenance history

This information can help determine the suitability of the proposed solution.

CPCB Approved RECD Manufacturer

CPCB approved RECD manufacturerBusinesses searching for a should evaluate the manufacturer's technical credentials and documentation.

A good procurement checklist can include:

Product Documentation

Ask for product datasheets, model details and technical specifications.

Certification

Request applicable type-approval or certification documents.

Engine Family

Confirm the engine family for which the RECD is certified.

Installation

Ask whether installation and commissioning services are available.

Maintenance

Understand servicing and replacement requirements.

Warranty

Review product and service warranty conditions.

RECD Installation Service for DG Set

An emission-control device must be properly integrated with the generator's exhaust system.

Installation may involve:

Site inspection
Engine identification
Compatibility verification
Mounting arrangement
Exhaust-system integration
Sensor/control installation
Commissioning
Operational checks

Professional installation can reduce the possibility of incorrect mounting or exhaust-system integration.

Importance of Back Pressure

When additional equipment is installed in an exhaust system, back pressure is an important engineering consideration.

The RECD and exhaust arrangement should be designed and installed within the applicable technical specifications.

Incorrect installation can affect engine operation.

Therefore, installation should be carried out by trained personnel using the manufacturer's installation instructions.

RECD Price for DG Set

RECD price for DG setThe depends on the particular project.

Factors can include:

Engine size
RECD technology
Model
Certification
Control system
Sensors
Installation
Transportation
Commissioning
Site modifications

Therefore, a supplier should generally provide a quotation after receiving the DG-set details.

RECD Compliance for Diesel Generators

Compliance is broader than simply installing an emission-control device.

Businesses should consider:

Applicable environmental regulations
Generator category
Engine specifications
Current notifications
Location-specific directions
Certification requirements
Installation documentation

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change maintains official environmental standards and notification information, including material concerning generator-set emission standards.

Is RECD Mandatory for DG Sets in India?

RECD mandatory for DG sets IndiaThe phrase should be used carefully in SEO content.

Not every generator installation should automatically be described as having identical RECD requirements.

Applicability can depend on the specific generator, engine, location, applicable regulations and directions from competent authorities.

Businesses should verify their current requirements rather than relying on a generic online statement.

Benefits of a Suitable RECD System

Where technically applicable, an RECD can provide several potential advantages.

Retrofit Approach

It can be evaluated for an existing generator.

Emission-Control Strategy

It can become part of the facility's broader pollution-control planning.

Existing Infrastructure

A compatible retrofit may allow the organisation to continue using an existing generator.

Technical Integration

Modern RECD systems can include monitoring and control components depending on the technology.

Selecting the Right RECD Supplier

RECD supplier for DG setsWhen selecting an , consider the complete solution.

Questions to ask include:

Does the supplier understand the engine family?
Can it provide certification documentation?
Does it offer installation?
Does it provide commissioning?
Is maintenance support available?
Are spare parts available?
What warranty is provided?
Can the supplier provide technical assistance?

This approach helps industrial buyers compare suppliers on meaningful technical factors.

Buying RECD Online

Businesses can use online platforms to find RECD manufacturers and suppliers.

buy RECD for generator onlineHowever, should involve technical verification before payment or final order.

The buyer should share the generator details and request a compatibility assessment.

The supplier should then provide product specifications, documentation and a complete quotation.

Maintenance After Installation

After installation, regular maintenance should be performed according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Maintenance may involve:

Visual inspection
Sensor checking
Cleaning
Component inspection
Differential-pressure monitoring where applicable
Replacement of service components
Performance verification

The DG engine should also be maintained properly.

Documentation and Record Keeping

Industrial facilities should maintain records of:

RECD model
Installation date
Certification documentation
Installation report
Maintenance history
Service activities
Replacement components

Good documentation can help with internal equipment management and regulatory reviews where applicable.

Future of DG Set Emission Control

As industries focus increasingly on energy efficiency and environmental management, emission-control technology is likely to remain an important area of industrial equipment management.

Retrofit technologies can be relevant where existing generator infrastructure continues to be operationally useful.

However, every retrofit project should begin with technical evaluation rather than simply purchasing equipment based on a generic product description.

Conclusion

CPCB approved RECD for DG setA should be evaluated based on product-specific documentation, engine compatibility, certification range, installation requirements and applicable regulations.

CPCB's official procedure clearly connects RECD type approval with applicable DG engine families and establishes requirements relating to type approval and conformity of production.

For industrial buyers, the right approach is to identify the DG engine, verify the appropriate RECD family, review supporting documentation and arrange professional installation.
