Dairy Market 2026: The Core of the Search Queries

In the global dairy industry of 2026, trends of increasing milk demand in developing countries, higher productivity per head of cattle, shifting consumer preference towards high-protein dairy foods, growing cheese and dairy ingredients production, and increasing pressure on dairy companies to boost productivity while maintaining sustainability are the driving forces. The latest report from the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2026–2035, which becomes the main benchmark of the industry, shows that world milk production was estimated at approximately 1,005 million tons in 2025, and will grow to about 1,223 million tons in 2035, averaging an annual growth rate of about 2.0%.

How large is the global dairy market in 2026?

As there is no single official revenue number that would show the total amount of revenue of the entire global dairy industry, one may use the production volumes as a primary source, instead of using revenue estimates from market research companies. Thus, Insights Consultancy could use approximately US$1.08 trillion as its 2026 revenue benchmark and approximately US$1.55 trillion for 2034 as a consultancy estimate, but all of those numbers should be marked as For Insights Consultancy Estimates.

How much milk is produced worldwide?

In 2025, the amount of global milk production was around 1,005 million tonnes, stated the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2026-2035. By 2035, the level of production is forecasted to reach nearly 1,223 million tonnes on an annual average increase of approximately 2.0%. However, the rate and the nature of growth vary greatly depending on the particular country and product type.
