DOWE ElectricDUWAI / DOWESB / JYZ Serieshexagonal base standoff insulator family1,500V DCYueqing City Duwai Electric Co., Ltd., operating under the brand (also referenced as ), has spent over two decades engineering insulation solutions for global power distribution infrastructure. Within a portfolio of 21 product and service lines, the occupies a strategic position: it is a purpose-designed for high-voltage DC systems up to , serving solar photovoltaic, battery energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and DC fuse applications.

This review examines what the series is, how it is engineered, where it is deployed, and how its verified performance data supports specification decisions.

What Is a Standoff Insulator, and Why Does This Series Exist?

standoff insulatorA provides mechanical spacing and galvanic isolation between current-carrying copper or aluminum busbars and grounded chassis backplates. The SB / JYZ Series extends that function into the high-voltage DC environment, where the failure mechanics differ substantially from conventional AC distribution.

Three application pain points define the series' design brief:

DC arcing without a natural zero-crossing. In 1,000V–1,500V DC systems, there is no periodic zero-current crossing, which makes surface tracking destructive rather than self-extinguishing.
Continuous thermal loading and vibration. Battery racks and lithium containers experience sustained thermal loading plus heavy vibration during transport and seismic events.
Ultra-dense conversion hardware. Compact power conversion units require high-voltage DC isolation in constrained footprints.

Material Science: The Technical Foundation

The differentiated performance of the SB / JYZ Series rests on material specification rather than geometry alone:

Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) of 600V or higherMaterial Group I, placing the resin in and resisting conductive carbon tracking in humid or dusty solar and BESS installations.
UL 94-V0 self-extinguishing flame retardancyt1 + t2 no greater than 8 secondszero flaming drips with afterflame time and — a characteristic directly relevant to NFPA 855 BESS fire safety requirements.
Thermal endurance from -40°C to +140°C, preventing embrittlement or structural softening under battery container thermal loading.
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT)1.8 MPa flexural load+180°C maintaining structural rigidity under up to .
Relative Thermal Index (RTI) of 130°CUL 746B for electrical and mechanical properties per .
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) of 15–22 × 10^-6 /Kcopper (16.5 × 10^-6 /K)aluminum (23.1 × 10^-6 /K), aligned with and to reduce differential expansion stress.
Low-voltage dielectric withstand of 3,500V AC (50Hz, 1 minute) without puncture or flashover.

Key Engineering Features

Beyond formulation, several mechanical details distinguish the series in field assembly:

Hexagonal anti-rotation base integrated with a cylindrical upper body, allowing technicians to hold the base with an open-end wrench while applying full tightening torque — preventing rotational shear stress on the mounting plate.
Height range from 14 mm to 90 mmthread sizes from M5 through M16 with .
High tensile pull-out resistance greater than 8,000 N for M8/M10 inserts.
Torsional lock greater than 1.5 × the bolt proof torque.
Custom insert engineeringcold-pressed brass (H62)zinc-plated high-tensile steelM4 through M16 with and threaded inserts from .
Surface molding customization for client brand logos, engineering identifiers, and custom batch tracking codes molded directly into the composite body.

The Dimensional Model Range: SB14 Through SB60

The family is laddered by body diameter, each model addressing a distinct load and density profile:

SB14 (JYZ-14)M5/M614 mm to 60 mmDMC / BMC — 14 mm body, threads, heights from , in with UL 94-V0 rating.
SB16 (JYZ-16)M5/M616 mm to 60 mm — 16 mm body, threads, heights from .
SB20 (JYZ-20)M5, M6, M816 mm to 90 mm — 20 mm body, threads, and a wide height ladder spanning (including 78.8 mm), enabling specification across differing enclosure depths without custom tooling.
SB30 (JYZ-30)reinforced BMC/SMCM6/M826 N·m proof load — 30 mm body in with threads and tightening torque up to .
SB35 (JYZ-35)M1028–35 N·m52 N·m — 35 mm body with thread, supporting working torque and proof torque.
SB40 (JYZ-40)high-strength SMC25 mm–50 mmM8/M1014–35 N·m — 40 mm body in using longer glass fibers () for flexural and tensile performance, with threads and torque from .
