Choosing the right DG Set RECD Device requires more than comparing prices. The device needs to be compatible with the generator's engine, exhaust flow, temperature, operating load, and back-pressure limits. Selecting a suitable system can help maintain reliable DG operation while providing the intended emission-control performance.

Why Is Proper Selection Important?

An RECD becomes part of the DG set's exhaust system. An incorrectly sized or unsuitable device can create excessive exhaust resistance and may affect engine operation.

Therefore, technical compatibility should be checked before purchasing.

What Factors Should You Consider?

1. DG Set Capacity

Start by checking the rated capacity of the generator.

The selected RECD should be appropriate for the DG set's operating requirements.

2. Engine Make and Model

Engine specifications can vary considerably between manufacturers and models.

Provide accurate engine details when evaluating an RECD.

3. Exhaust Flow

The device should be designed to handle the exhaust flow produced by the generator.

4. Exhaust Temperature

Temperature is important for many emission-control technologies.

Check the expected exhaust temperature against the operating range specified by the RECD manufacturer.

5. Back Pressure

The RECD should not create excessive exhaust back pressure.

The permissible limit specified by the engine manufacturer should be considered during selection.

6. Operating Load

Consider how the DG set normally operates.

A generator used mostly at low load may have different exhaust conditions from one operating regularly at higher loads.

7. Maintenance Requirements

Ask about inspection, cleaning, servicing, and component-replacement requirements before selecting a device.

8. Installation Space

Check the available space around the exhaust line and make sure there is enough access for future maintenance.

9. Technical Documentation

Review available product specifications, test information, installation instructions, and operating requirements.

Should Price Be the Main Factor?

Price is only one factor.

A lower initial price may not represent the lowest overall cost if the system requires frequent maintenance or is not properly compatible with the DG set.

Conclusion

Selecting the right DG Set RECD Device requires consideration of generator capacity, engine specifications, exhaust flow, temperature, back pressure, operating load, maintenance, and installation requirements. A technically suitable device can help provide effective emission control without unnecessarily affecting DG set operation.

FAQs

1. How do I know which RECD is suitable for my DG set?

Compare the RECD specifications with your DG set's engine and exhaust requirements.

2. Why is back pressure important?

Excessive back pressure can affect engine operation.

3. Should exhaust temperature be checked?

Yes. It can be an important factor depending on the RECD technology.

4. Is a cheaper RECD always a better option?

Not necessarily. Technical compatibility and documented performance should also be considered.

5. Can an RECD supplier help with selection?

A qualified supplier can evaluate DG specifications and recommend a compatible system.
