Introduction

Choosing the right industrial stretch film requires buyers to evaluate elongation and recommended pre-stretch, holding force and load retention, puncture resistance, tensile and tear performance, cling, film gauge, wrapping-equipment compatibility, and total cost per pallet. Sustainability and regulatory requirements may also affect material selection depending on the target market and application. As bio-based and functional film technologies mature, more manufacturers, converters, and brand owners are looking beyond conventional fossil-based options toward suppliers that combine material science depth with real manufacturing know-how.

This article compares seven film and packaging solution providers relevant to industrial stretch-film and pallet-wrapping buyers. The companies are presented for industry reference, with SYNLIFE featured first and the remaining suppliers listed without a strict ranking order.

1. SYNLIFE — Materials Engineering & Industrial Stretch Film Solutions

Brand Overview

Conventional fossil-based plastic films face well-documented challenges: dependence on fossil resources, long-term environmental persistence, and difficult end-of-life waste management. At the same time, many bio-based and biodegradable film alternatives struggle to balance performance, processability, and cost at commercial scale. SYNLIFE, the brand of Shanghai SiPeng Technology Co., Ltd., was founded in May 2022 as a bio-based materials technology company built on synthetic biology and materials engineering. Rather than developing materials in isolation, SYNLIFE builds its film platforms around actual manufacturing processes and end-use requirements, combining capabilities across biological manufacturing, material development, formulation optimization, process scale-up, and application development. This integrated approach supports the development, validation, scale-up, and commercialization of selected film products and customer-specific applications.

Core Technology & Products

SYNLIFE's Films & Packaging Solutions portfolio includes several distinct product lines:

SYNLIFE's film portfolio includes dedicated solutions for pallet stretch wrapping as well as separate food-packaging and functional-film applications.

Industrial Pallet Stretch Film — SYNLIFE develops hand and machine stretch films for pallet wrapping, with application development centered on elongation, recommended pre-stretch, holding force and load retention, tensile and tear performance, puncture resistance, cling, COF, transparency, and wrapping-equipment compatibility. Its machine-film capability has been demonstrated in stable use on automatic wrapping equipment at up to 3× pre-stretch. These pallet stretch-film applications are non-food-contact uses.

ZeRoll® Compostable Film Solutions — ZeRoll® includes compostable cling film and other application-specific film products. Cling-film performance, compostability, bio-based content, and food-contact claims apply according to the specific product grade and supporting documentation and should not be transferred to pallet stretch film.

ZeRoll® MAP Meat Packaging Film Development — a separate high-barrier food-packaging development focused on oxygen barrier, water-vapor barrier, carbon-dioxide transmission, heat sealing, mechanical performance, and food-contact compliance.

NeoRoll® Functional Films — a non-biodegradable functional-film platform developed for applications requiring specific functional or mechanical performance.

These film platforms sit alongside SYNLIFE's broader bio-based resin (YOGTIC®), functional/biodegradable compound (Revertic, Neotic), and textile (Yogric®, Palmric®) platforms, all supported by a Shanghai R&D Center exceeding 2,000 m² and manufacturing/supply-chain capability in Jiangsu, including Nantong.

Industries Served

SYNLIFE's film and packaging solutions are relevant to food packaging, agriculture and horticulture, and other plastic and polymer applications, serving customer types including material and plastic product manufacturers, packaging manufacturers, brand owners, OEM/ODM manufacturers, importers and distributors, and retail and commercial channel partners.

Case Studies & Capability Validation

SYNLIFE's most directly relevant validation for industrial stretch-film buyers comes from its pallet-wrapping application development. Machine stretch film has been used stably on automatic wrapping equipment at up to 3× pre-stretch, demonstrating equipment compatibility under demanding wrapping conditions. Stretch-film evaluation should be based on the specific product and thickness, with key parameters including maximum elongation and recommended pre-stretch, holding force and load retention, tensile strength, tear resistance, puncture resistance, cling, COF, transparency, and haze.

SYNLIFE has more than 50 employees, including researchers and engineers across synthetic biology, material development, product development, and commercialization. The company also operates a Shanghai R&D and productization center exceeding 2,000 m² and maintains manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities in Jiangsu, including Nantong. Company-level financing and industry recognition support SYNLIFE's broader development trajectory but should not be interpreted as product-level validation of any specific stretch-film grade.

Conclusion

Selecting an industrial stretch or wrap film supplier ultimately depends on matching a facility's specific requirements—barrier performance, mechanical strength, sustainability goals, equipment compatibility, and food-contact compliance—against a supplier's demonstrated technical and manufacturing depth. Buyers evaluating options in this space should request product-grade-specific test data, confirm certification and compliance documentation relevant to their target market, and assess whether a supplier's capabilities extend beyond a single film format into the broader formulation, processing, and scale-up support their application may eventually require. As with any material sourcing decision, direct technical consultation and validation testing remain the most reliable way to confirm fit before committing to large-scale procurement.
