Building a strong relationship with customers has become an important part of digital marketing. People are exposed to advertisements across social media, websites, and streaming platforms every day. With so much content competing for attention, businesses need ways to communicate with their audiences that feel natural and relevant.

This is one reason user-generated content, commonly known as UGC, has become popular among brands and marketers.

UGC-style videos can show products through demonstrations, personal experiences, tutorials, and everyday situations. Instead of relying only on traditional advertising, businesses can use these formats to communicate their message in a way that feels closer to regular social media content.

However, creating effective UGC content requires more than recording a video. Brands need to understand their audience, develop relevant ideas, and choose the right way to present their products.

In this article, we will explore what UGC videos are, how they support marketing efforts, and how businesses can use AI tools to simplify parts of the content creation process.

What Is UGC Video Content?

UGC stands for user-generated content. It generally refers to content created by customers, creators, or users rather than produced entirely through traditional brand advertising.

Examples include:

A customer sharing their experience with a product
A creator demonstrating how a product works
A short video explaining a product's features
A tutorial showing how to use a service
A review discussing a personal experience

Not all UGC content is created independently by customers. Brands may also collaborate with creators to produce videos that follow a natural, user-focused style.

For example, a skincare company might work with a creator to produce a video showing how they use a particular product in their daily routine. The creator can explain the product, demonstrate its use, and share relevant observations.

The format and message depend on the campaign's purpose and the audience being targeted.

Why Are Brands Using UGC-Style Videos?

Traditional advertisements often focus directly on promoting a product. UGC-style content can approach the same goal through storytelling, demonstrations, or relatable situations.

For example, a clothing brand could create a conventional product advertisement featuring professional photography. It could also collaborate with a creator to produce a short video showing how the clothing looks when styled for everyday use.

Both formats can serve a marketing purpose, but they communicate the product differently.

UGC-style content can be particularly useful when a brand wants to demonstrate how a product fits into a customer's daily life. The creator's presentation, tone, and experience can help shape how the audience understands the message.

However, the effectiveness of UGC varies depending on the content quality, product, audience, and campaign objective. There is no single format that guarantees strong results for every business.

1. UGC Videos Can Make Product Demonstrations More Relatable

One of the main uses of UGC videos is showing how a product works in a practical situation.

Instead of describing every feature through written text, a video can demonstrate the product in action.

For example:

A fitness brand can show how to use an exercise accessory.
A software company can demonstrate a specific feature.
A food brand can show a simple recipe.
A beauty brand can explain how a product is applied.

These demonstrations can make information easier to understand, particularly when the product requires visual explanation.

The key is to focus on information that is relevant to the audience rather than adding unnecessary details.

A short, clear demonstration may be more useful than a video that tries to explain every product feature at once.

2. Creators Help Bring Personality to Brand Content

People have different communication styles, and creators often develop a recognizable way of presenting information.

Some creators focus on educational content, while others use humor, storytelling, or product demonstrations. Brands can collaborate with creators whose style is suitable for their target audience.

For example, a productivity app might work with a creator who regularly shares work and organization tips. The creator could demonstrate how the app fits into their workflow.

This approach allows the product to be presented within a relevant context.

However, brands should avoid forcing creators to sound unnatural. Clear guidelines are useful, but creators also need room to communicate in a way that suits their style.

A video that feels overly scripted may not work as well as one with a clear message and natural delivery.

3. UGC Content Can Support Different Marketing Goals

UGC videos are not limited to product reviews. They can be created for different stages of the customer journey.

Awareness

At the awareness stage, a brand wants people to discover its product or service.

A short video introducing a problem and presenting a possible solution can help communicate what the business offers.

Consideration

At this stage, potential customers may be comparing different options.

A demonstration, tutorial, or feature-focused video can provide useful information to help them understand the product.

Conversion

Content at the conversion stage may focus on a specific offer, product benefit, or next step.

For example, a video can explain how to get started with a service and direct interested viewers to the relevant website page.

The same product may need different video formats depending on the campaign's objective.

4. AI Tools Can Simplify UGC Video Production

Creating multiple UGC videos can involve several steps, including brainstorming, scripting, recording, editing, and preparing different versions.

For businesses that need to produce content regularly, some of these tasks can become repetitive.

AI-powered content creation tools can help simplify parts of this workflow. Depending on the platform, users may be able to generate ideas, develop scripts, create video concepts, or prepare content based on product information.

UGC video makerFor example, an such as Predis.ai can help businesses explore UGC-style creative concepts and produce video content more efficiently. This can be useful when marketers want to test different approaches or develop initial creative variations.

AI tools should be used according to the requirements of the campaign. A business may still need real creator footage, product demonstrations, or human review to ensure the final content accurately represents its offering.

The goal is to reduce repetitive work without losing the clarity and relevance of the message.

5. Personalization Matters in UGC Marketing

A video created for one audience may not be suitable for another.

For example, a financial app targeting students might focus on budgeting and everyday expenses. The same app targeting small business owners could focus on tracking business transactions.

The product may be the same, but the message and presentation can differ.

Brands should consider:

Who is the intended audience?
What problem does the product address?
What information does the audience need?
Which video format suits the message?
What action should viewers take next?

AI can help generate different creative directions, but marketers should review these ideas carefully and select those that align with the campaign.

Personalization does not necessarily mean creating a completely different video for every viewer. It can also involve adjusting the topic, tone, visuals, or message for a specific audience group.

6. Authenticity and Transparency Are Important

UGC-style content should communicate information honestly.

If a creator is paid to promote a product, the relevant advertising disclosure requirements should be followed. Brands and creators should also avoid misleading claims, edited demonstrations that misrepresent product performance, or testimonials that do not reflect genuine experiences.

For example, a skincare brand should be careful about making unsupported claims regarding results. A software company should ensure that a product demonstration accurately reflects the available features.

Authenticity is not simply about making a video look informal. It also involves providing clear information and avoiding misleading presentation.

When businesses prioritize transparency, they can create content that communicates product benefits without relying on exaggerated promises.

7. Test Different UGC Video Formats

There is no universal format for every UGC campaign. Brands can experiment with different approaches based on their goals and audience.

Some useful formats include:

Product Demonstration

Show how a product works and explain its main features.

Problem-Solution Video

Introduce a common problem and explain how the product may help address it.

Tutorial

Guide viewers through a process or show how to use a particular feature.

Creator Story

Use a personal experience or narrative to introduce the product.

Comparison Video

Explain differences between options using accurate and relevant information.

When testing formats, businesses should focus on meaningful differences in the message, presentation, or audience rather than changing everything at once.

Performance should be evaluated using appropriate campaign metrics.

8. Measure the Performance of UGC Campaigns

Creating content is only one part of a marketing strategy. Brands should also evaluate whether their videos are meeting their intended objectives.

Depending on the campaign, relevant metrics may include:

Video views
Watch time
Engagement
Click-through rate
Website visits
Conversions
Cost per result

For example, a campaign designed to increase awareness may focus on reach and video engagement. A campaign intended to generate website visits may place more emphasis on clicks and conversion-related metrics.

High view counts do not automatically mean a campaign has achieved its business objective. The results need to be interpreted in the context of the campaign's purpose.

Testing different creative approaches can help businesses understand what resonates with their audience, although performance can vary over time and across platforms.

The Future of UGC and AI-Powered Content Creation

UGC and AI are becoming part of a broader shift in how businesses produce digital content.

Creators continue to bring personality, storytelling, and real-world demonstrations to brand campaigns. At the same time, AI tools can support tasks such as idea generation, scripting, editing assistance, and creative experimentation.

These approaches can work together.

A brand may collaborate with creators to produce original footage while using AI to develop additional concepts or organize parts of its content workflow.

The right approach depends on the product, audience, budget, campaign requirements, and desired level of human involvement.

As content production becomes more accessible, businesses will need to focus not only on creating videos but also on ensuring that the content is relevant, accurate, and useful.

Final Thoughts

UGC-style videos offer businesses a way to present products through demonstrations, stories, and relatable content formats. They can support different marketing goals, from introducing a product to explaining its features and encouraging potential customers to explore further.

AI tools can make parts of the production process more efficient, particularly when businesses need to develop multiple creative concepts.

However, successful content still depends on a clear message, appropriate presentation, and an understanding of the target audience.

Whether you are a small business owner, marketer, or creator, start by identifying your campaign objective and selecting a video format that supports it.

The best UGC content is not simply about looking natural. It is about communicating a useful message in a way that connects with the right audience.
