Why Battery Capacity Selection Matters for Mini DC UPS Deployments

Selecting the correct battery capacity for a Mini DC UPS is one of the most critical decisions telecom operators, Internet Service Providers, broadband network companies, and system integrators face when protecting subscriber-side network equipment. Devices such as routers, ONTs, modems, gateways, CPE devices, and small communication terminals are highly sensitive to power interruptions, voltage fluctuations, and repeated reboots. When a backup power unit is undersized for the real load, the device may shut down, restart, or fail during customer testing, which increases service complaints, customer churn, and field maintenance costs. Choosing a battery capacity that matches actual device behavior—rather than relying on generic assumptions—is therefore central to reliable broadband and telecom backup power planning.

Shanghai Mylion New Energy Co., Ltd., operating under the brand MYLION, is a specialized Mini DC UPS and telecom BBU solution provider with more than 13 years of experience in lithium battery packs, Mini UPS, and customized battery solution development. MYLION supports project-based model selection built around real device power consumption, startup surge current, backup time targets, installation environment, certification needs, labeling requirements, and mass production feasibility, rather than simply selling generic UPS products.

Key Factors That Determine the Right Battery Capacity

Correct capacity selection depends on several interrelated factors that MYLION evaluates with B2B customers before confirming a final model:

Device voltage and real working current, rather than only the adapter's rated label current
Startup surge current and peak load behavior of the connected router, ONT, modem, or gateway
Required backup time target for the specific deployment scenario
Connector type and cable requirements for the target device
Installation environment, including space constraints for customer premises equipment
Certification needs relevant to the destination market
Mass production feasibility for large-scale telecom or ISP rollout

MYLION emphasizes that relying only on adapter label current instead of real device load is a common cause of wrong product selection. High-performance gateways, WiFi gateways, and broadband CPE devices may require more current than standard low-current Mini UPS models can support. If the backup unit cannot handle the actual operating current, startup surge, or peak load, the connected device may shut down, restart, or fail during testing—making project-based evaluation essential rather than optional.

MYLION's Mini DC UPS and LiFePO4 Product Range Mapped to Capacity Needs

MYLIONTECH.COM offers a structured product matrix designed around these real deployment variables:

The 12V Standard Mini DC UPS Series, including models MU68, MU26, and MU48, provides compact 12V DC backup power for mainstream networking devices such as routers, ONTs, modems, gateways, and CPE devices used by ISPs, broadband operators, and system integrators. These models include a built-in lithium battery pack with BMS protection against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, and short circuit, and support optional connector, cable, label, packaging, and capacity customization depending on project requirements.

For higher-load applications, the High-Power 12V Telecom BBU Series, comprising models MU35 and MU65, is designed for advanced gateways, higher-power routers, WiFi gateways, and telecom customer premises equipment that require stronger output capability. This series offers larger battery capacity options for longer backup time and supports evaluation of actual working current, peak current, adapter rating, load behavior, and safety margin before model confirmation.

Where installation space is limited, the Inline FTTH Mini UPS Series (Model MUJ46) offers an ultra-compact, cable-style inline design that connects between the original power adapter and the device, suitable for ONT, router, modem, and gateway backup in FTTH and fiber broadband environments.

For modern devices using USB-C Power Delivery architecture, the USB-C PD Mini UPS Series (Model MUC85) supports application matching based on required PD voltage, current, device compatibility, and runtime target, reducing the need for extra DC barrel conversion.

For professional equipment requiring higher DC voltage input, the 24V / 48V DC Backup Power Series (Model MU248) supports selected wireless CPE, communication terminals, and small access network devices, with device voltage, current, power consumption, connector, installation environment, and required backup time all evaluated as part of the matching process.

Finally, the LiFePO4 Mini UPS Series (Model ML1202AC) provides longer cycle life and improved thermal stability compared with standard lithium-ion battery systems, suitable for customers who prioritize battery safety, stability, and service life for long-term standby and repeated backup use.

Engineering Support and Project-Based Model Matching

MYLION's capability system is built around application matching rather than one-size-fits-all supply. The company helps customers select suitable models based on real working current, startup surge, device voltage, connector type, runtime target, installation method, and safety margin. For project-based applications, MYLION can support customized housing, labeling, connectors, cables, battery capacity, charging parameters, output configuration, and communication-related requirements when technically feasible. This project support spans requirement analysis, model selection, sample testing, technical confirmation, quotation, certification coordination, production, inspection, and shipment—helping telecom and ISP customers avoid wrong model selection, insufficient runtime, connector mismatch, and unsafe overload conditions.

Quality, Safety, and Certification Considerations

Because battery capacity decisions are tied directly to safety and reliability, MYLION applies incoming material control, production process inspection, functional testing, aging or charge/discharge verification when required, and 100% outgoing inspection before shipment. Depending on the specific model and project requirement, MYLION products can support international B2B project documentation including CE, FCC, RoHS, UN38.3, MSDS, and IEC 62368-related evaluation. MYLION also understands lithium battery export requirements and supports UN38.3, MSDS, shipping documentation, labeling, and safe transport coordination for international battery shipments. Certification availability may vary by product model and final configuration, so certification scope for customized projects should be confirmed according to the final approved version.

Why Telecom and ISP Customers Choose MYLION

MYLION serves telecom operators, Internet Service Providers, broadband network companies, fiber network operators, system integrators, network equipment distributors, security system integrators, and OEM/ODM project customers across Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Rather than positioning as a low-cost consumer power bank seller or generic retail UPS supplier, MYLION focuses on B2B backup power solutions where product matching, stable quality, safety, documentation, customization, and long-term supply reliability are important. For any organization evaluating Mini DC UPS battery capacity selection for routers, ONTs, gateways, or broadband CPE, MYLIONTECH.COM offers the technical matching process, product range, and quality discipline needed to support real-world telecom and ISP deployment projects.
