Introduction

A direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand is more than just good products for businesses. In addition to this, businesses need marketplace visibility, customer trust, good product listings, and an effective selling strategy. The entrance into a big fashion marketplace for new Indian brands could be difficult due to marketing, operational, and selling costs.

Myntra Rising Stars Programme Read the announcementThe offers an opportunity for eligible homegrown D2C brands to expand their reach through Myntra's marketplace. In January 2026, Myntra introduced a zero-commission model for new Indian D2C brands under its Rising Stars initiative, helping qualifying businesses explore marketplace growth with lower commission costs..

What Is the Myntra Rising Stars Programme?

The Myntra Rising Stars Programme is aimed at helping the emerging brands from India expand their sales network outside their website and social media platforms. This programme will enable those qualifying brands to reach out to the fashion-oriented customers of Myntra and strengthen their online presence.

In case of zero commission, eligible brands new to the direct-to-consumer (D2C) category may sell on Myntra without any commission charges. This may give them flexibility to concentrate on the development and marketing of products, as well as improving their catalogue and customer acquisition efforts.

But zero commission does not mean that no selling charges are there. It is advised to check the latest commercial contract for all charges, payment terms, advertising costs, and eligibility criteria.

Who Can Benefit From This Programme?

The programme is particularly relevant to homegrown D2C businesses that already have products and a customer base but want to expand their distribution.

Potential applicants include:

Fashion brands: Businesses selling ethnic wear, western wear, everyday clothing, or designer apparel.
Beauty brands: Eligible businesses offering beauty and personal care products.
Footwear and accessories brands: Companies selling shoes, bags, jewellery, and fashion accessories, subject to current programme eligibility.
Lifestyle brands: Homegrown labels offering products that fit Myntra's supported categories.

For brands that sell through their own websites or stores on Instagram, this opportunity can be very pertinent. Myntra’s acceptance is not guaranteed, and hence the brand needs to check if it falls under the eligible category.

Key Benefits for Emerging D2C Brands

1. Lower Marketplace Commission Costs

The cost of commissions might also be an issue that the margin of the brand should be concerned about, especially during its initial phase of development. Without having to pay commissions, brands can allocate their incomes to some other activities.

These activities may involve upgrading product pictures, stock management, customer acquisition, and catalogues.

2. Access to a Larger Customer Base

Being able to sell through a reputable fashion marketplace allows for reaching consumers that would not otherwise have found out about the product via the brand’s website. It is therefore possible to enhance product discovery and reach more consumers.

On the other hand, visibility and success will be determined by a number of elements.

3. Opportunities for Brand Building

A marketplace presence can help emerging labels build recognition and establish credibility with online shoppers. Consistent product images, accurate descriptions, clear sizing information, and reliable fulfilment can strengthen the customer experience.

4. Support for Business Expansion

Market entry requires the coordination of product listing, inventory management, order fulfillment, pricing, and customer service support. Individuals who qualify for such programs will receive support for brand building and account management, depending on the specific program.

Why Product Listing and Account Management Matter

Inaccuracies in product description, inconsistent size information, poor-quality pictures, and wrong inventory might have negative consequences for customer trust and operations as a whole.

Professional ecommerce account management solutions can assist brands with preparation for onboarding, optimization of the catalogue, inventory coordination, marketplaces management, and continuous performance analysis.
