Overview of Flip Up Helmets Product Lines for Urban and Open-Road Markets

Every helmet dealer serves a mix of customers, but two groups stand out in most markets: urban riders who make short trips through busy streets, and open-road riders who cover longer distances at higher speeds. These groups have different needs, different budgets, and different expectations. Dealers who stock with both groups in mind sell more, reduce slow-moving inventory, and build stronger customer loyalty. A clear segmentation strategy helps dealers organise their range so every rider finds the right helmet quickly.

Understanding the Urban Rider

Urban riders typically make short, frequent trips, often in heavy traffic and warm conditions. They value light weight, good airflow, easy communication, and quick on-and-off convenience. Visibility in changing light between buildings and tunnels matters too. Many urban riders also care about style, especially younger riders and scooter users. Dealers should stock helmets that feel comfortable for short, repeated use and that make daily routines easier, while still offering certified protection suited to city speeds.

Understanding the Open-Road Rider

Open-road riders spend longer periods on highways, country roads, and touring routes. They need helmets that stay stable and quiet at speed, block wind and weather, and remain comfortable for hours. Ventilation that can be adjusted for changing conditions, clear visors, and low fatigue are priorities. These riders often invest more in their helmets and appreciate premium features. Dealers should offer full face and modular models with strong aerodynamic performance and long-distance comfort features.

Flip-Up Helmets for Riders Who Do Both

Many customers fall between these groups, commuting in the city during the week and heading out on longer rides at weekends. Flip-up helmets are ideal for them. MY Helmet's MY 935 and FF935 combine full face protection on the road with open face convenience at stops, dual visor systems for changing light, and multi-vent airflow. Placing flip-up models at the centre of the display helps dealers serve this crossover segment, which is often the largest and most loyal part of their customer base.

Building the Urban Section

For the urban section, dealers should combine lightweight flip-up helmets with dedicated city options. Features to highlight include quick-release buckles, internal sun visors, breathable washable liners, and effective ventilation. Stylish graphics and colours attract younger riders and fashion-conscious buyers. MY Helmet's in-house design team creates original graphics that help urban helmets stand out on the shelf. Clear signage explaining the benefits for city riding helps customers choose confidently and quickly.

Building the Open-Road Section

For open-road customers, dealers should focus on full face and touring-oriented flip-up helmets, highlighting aerodynamics, noise reduction, and comfort for long days. Carbon fiber options such as MY Helmet's FF960 appeal to riders seeking lighter weight and premium performance. Accessories like tinted visors and spare liners should be displayed nearby. Knowledgeable staff who can explain certification, weight, and ventilation benefits help open-road riders justify investing in higher-quality helmets.

Completing the Range for Pure City Riders
